Newsboys Find Answers in the Bible

Seeing God Intervene
The Newsboys Peter Furler knows God intervenes in people's lives. God intervened in his.
The music he and other Newsboys band members create come from their experience seeing God work in their lives.

Furler, who wrote the foreword in Zondervan's NIV Student Bible, explains how seeing God intervene in his and his family's lives while he grew up in South Australia helped him learn who God is.

That's why CBA, a trade association for Christian retailers and suppliers, named Furler and the Newsboys as its spokespersons for the national "What Goes Into the Mind Comes Out In a Life"™ campaign, which emphasizes that what people put into their minds through media and other means is what defines who they are and what they eventually do and become.

It’s All About You!
We all make decisions in our lives that define ourselves. Whether it's the coffee we drink, the music we hear, the books we read, the clothes we wear, we reflect who we are by how we think, speak--even feel. We have choices and are the results of those choices.

But God can, and does, intervene. He puts the desire to know Him in each of us and He lets himself be known. What we put into our minds affects how we make decisions and how we do or don't know God.

Peter Furler of the Newsboys says he has experienced how God intervenes in people's lives, even when they don't realize it. When Furler became aware of God intervening, life began to change.

"I started by asking God to give me a love for the Bible," he says. "I believe that there are certain prayers God is pleased to answer swiftly, and a prayer to love His Word is one of them. I love the Bible and that's a grand miracle."

When CBA began its national "What Goes Into the Mind Comes Out In a Life" campaign, the desire was to encourage people to absorb media and information that lead to positive, purposeful lives, and to open doors to let God work personally and positively in their lives. The Bible is a life-changing source that when put into your mind will change your life.

The band's "Thrive"--It's All in the Word tour integrates great music with a message promoting Bible literacy. The tour, in cooperation with Bible publisher Zondervan, kicks off with a two-hour TV special. This high-energy band's popular songs and personal messages have been created in multiple media, from music CDs to books, videos, and DVDs. The Newsboys have changed many hearts and lives with their strong and consistent messages from the Bible and their own life experiences.

"The What Goes Into the Mind..." campaign encourages people to consider what they put into their minds because it impacts personal life choices, responses to situations, and world views. Where pop culture drives art, entertainment, and education, this campaign reminds us of how they affect how we think, what we believe-even what we feel.
